From Marie Follo: As we approach the holiday season we are kicking off our Pajama Drive again. Many organizations have reached out to us this year as a result of the pandemic. The need is greater and we want to do our best to fill their requests not only for the children but for families.
YMA has supported the Plaid Pajama Drive for the last 4 years with great success. We collected over 3000 pairs of pajamas.
For those of you who are new to the New Haven Chapter, the Plaid Pajama Project was created by my daughter as a result of what we thought was unique to our family. Each year my parents would purchase pajamas for my daughters and that would be the only present they would open on Christmas Eve. That tradition continues today. As we shared this tradition with others we found many families did the same. We thought that we could give back by offering pajamas to local organizations and schools. It has been a huge success. My daughter who lives in PA is the original founder of this charity project.
We had to be creative in our collection process this year as a result of the pandemic. Below you will find online registries for each of the organizations that have reached out to us for donations. It’s easy. Select an organization, select as many pajamas as you can and they will be shipped directly to either me or Maryam. We will collect them by organization and schedule a drop off with each group.
We have always met the needs of our groups but this year the need is greater. Families have been impacted by the pandemic. We are asking you to be as generous as you can by donating as many pajamas from the registries as possible. This is our opportunity to give back to those in need. Your donation in many cases are the only present these individuals receive during the holiday season.
I know our group is kind and generous and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us meet our quota this year of 800 PJ’s.
